0n the last day of November I tripped in my own house and broke my right femur just below the ball socket. Surgery on the first of December gave me a new femur and after 3 days in the hospital it was off to Geer for evaluation. Thanks to the wonderful nurses, aides and therapists at Geer, an additional 17 days of rehab had me home by the 21st of December, despite the 14 stairs and the fact that I live alone. Visiting therapists continued their good work, and by the end of February I was cleared to resume my life, just in time for my 82nd birthday! Eternally grateful to all of you! Especially the five women at Geer who decided that an 81 year old woman did not have to be relegated to assisted living, and got me approved for the addition days of therapy!

My husband, Kevin, went to Geerfor nursing care and physical rehab. They are the most caring, compassionate people. They took such excellent care of him.I would highly recommend these good people.

I hobbled in to Geer on a walker, filled with pain, suffering and outrage at the helplessness that a back condition had brought me to. "Magic" Mike Mangini started the process that now finds me pain free and back into my active life. He is a natural healer, knows how to find the muscular release through manipulation and dry needling. He taught me what the physical problems with my back are and how to manage via exercises--every morning. I am forever grateful to this engaging talented and compassionate man.Now, dealing with knee replacement, painful and challenging all the senses, am once more being supported and coached through this horrid time by Mike, and, of course, Missy at the desk.Thank you.

Now I have moved on campus to Beckley House . Il love it here also. Nice people. free Transportation, the same as up the hill at The Lodge. Though I have more freedom.

I live on The Geer Village Campus & I use Dial A Ride all the time.Great drivers who are friendly & helpful. Mostly I use themfor going to the store here in Canaan. Though I can go to my doctor appointments too. Sometimes I need to go to Torrington.It is easy to contact my friend Patty T. + her employer Ms. T.Since I am mostly in contact w/ Patty I know her the best.If the driver can't make our arranged pick up time I simply wait a little (a good experience to learn patience). In the end the driver comes . It may be the weather.One time I had arranged for Geer Transportation to bring me to the store here in town + I had arranged for a friend to bring me home.You can not imagine what Patty did: she came in to the store, found me to be sure that my friend was coming & bring me home. Wanted to confirm that I wouldn't be left stranded.

Mike and James are excellent. Put you at ease and make sure you know what is needed and what is going to happen. Very capable.

Mike Mangini can fix any aches and he is a very good diagnostician and will often come up with that diagnosis in tandem with or more quickly than my GP and/or specialist doctor. It's a healing "laying on of the hands," with 21st century knowledge and skill and decades of experience.

After many years of arthritic pain - Mike Mangini is simply the best at relieving my pain and giving me appropriate exercises. He introduced my family to dry needling which has made a total difference in our daily lives! Staff is great too!

Can you tell us the volunteering ages and stuff like that?

I had started running again and was bothered with a sore knee. I worked with James, who re-taught me how to run properly, alleviating the soreness almost immediately. He also gave me strengthening and stretching exercises, which are now a part of my daily life. This place is top-notch!

Geer has very caring help that have been there for years. They care about their residents and treat then like family. If i ever have to go to a nursing home, i told my family that i want to go to Geer, BECAUSE they care!! Their outpatient therapy is really awesome, too!

Geer Village is the perfect combination between exceptional senior living care and a lovely physical environment on a gorgeous campus. If you haven't been to Geer Village, you don't know what you're missing!

It takes a special person to work with dementia patients, and Geer has a staff that is second to none. From the receptionist to the business office to the social workers to the nurses and CNA s, the quality of care is a blessing to my husband and I.
